A major utility company, facing increased scrutiny and potential financial impact, needed to modernize its grid IT infrastructure while ensuring compliance with industry security standards. The head of cybersecurity and the head of power systems sought a trusted partner with the expertise to execute this complex modernization project.

A Secure, Compliant Citrix-Based Environment Designed for Scale

Because of their long-term, trusted relationship, the utility company turned to Arctiq to manage the project. Arctiq designed, built, and deployed a comprehensive Citrix-based environment that secured the company’s highly sensitive NERC data center while enabling secure remote access for both NERC and non-NERC applications. 

The solution was built on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix Application Delivery Controller solutions, providing a robust, highly available infrastructure for the NERC production environment. The implementation leveraged a full suite of Citrix components, deployed across two geographically dispersed data centers configured in active-active mode. This ensured both high availability and disaster recovery capabilities, critical for the utility company's operations. 

The Results:

Audit-Ready Infrastructure with Zero Security Findings

The modernization resulted in a NERC-CIP compliant enterprise solution, offering enhanced protection and secure remote access for authorized users. The company successfully navigated two separate security audits following implementation, with zero findings.
