Field Report from Red Hat Summit and AnsibleFest 2025

Written by Michael Kennedy | May 22, 2025 4:05:06 PM

I had the privilege this week to attend the Red Hat Summit 2025 and AnsibleFest.  The core theme of the show was "Unlock What's Next."  This post is a quick summary of what, for me, was a rich set of experiences across a diverse community of interests.  It is impossible to capture all the show in a single post; it really is something you need to experience for yourself.

Hosted in Boston this year, Red Hat's customers and an ecosystem of partners joined the Red Hatters in celebrating all the open-source innovation that has been created.

Here are some things that caught my eye this year:

Terraform and Ansible: A Cohesive Workflow

Armon Dadgar from HashiCorp on stage for the AnsibleFest Keynote speaking to the incredible potential unlocked by building solutions that integrate both Terraform and Ansible in one cohesive workflow for automated lifecycle management.

AI Workload Enablement: Across the Spectrum

Incredible innovation in the enablement of AI workloads for the entire spectrum of possible deployments. From the mainframe to mobile device, there is a Red Hat solution to enable your AI solutions to thrive economically.

• The Red Hat AI Inference Server to enable you to deploy vLLMS at any scale.

• State-of-the-Art model optimization enabled by the NeuralMagic team that are now Red Hatters, enabling you to run open-source models at scale economically and with confidence.

• Red Hat has an AI POC program that can help you explore your AI use case using the Red Hat products and their ecosystem of partners. Any hardware, any accelerator, Red Hat, and your models and data.

AI Assistance: For Developers, Sysadmins, and Engineers

The integration and expansion of the AI assistance to developers, sysadmins, and engineers across the entire Red Hat portfolio. Ensuring you have assistance, information, and expert insights when you need it, where you need it.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10: Innovation and Post-Quantum Cryptography

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 is chock full of innovations and I'm particularly delighted to see the inclusion of post-quantum cryptography enhancements that we all need to consider as table stakes.

Dynatrace Live Debugging: Accelerating Developer Outcomes

Dynatrace's Stanley Switalski gave me an in-depth demo of the Live Debugging capabilities, and we discussed ways in which developers working in the Red Hat ecosystem paired with OneAgent can leverage valuable and contextualized insights from Live Debugging to accelerate outcomes.

ScaleOps: Right-Sizing OpenShift Investments

Checked in with the ScaleOps team to discuss workload dynamics and their success stories in helping customers right-size their investments in the OpenShift ecosystem so they can spend those budgets on innovation rather than idle capacity.

Seiko: Time Servers and SmartCS Console Servers

I stopped by to see Seiko, a legend in timekeeping, sharing two products you didn't know you needed. Their Time Servers to provide an accurate and secure time for your enterprise and their SmartCS console servers for jumpstarting networks from zero to operational using the Ansible Automation suite

Red Hat & ABB Partnership: IEC 61850 Grid Control Systems

I also was enthralled by a demo that Red Hatters were putting on in partnership with ABB to discuss IEC 61850 grid control systems using Red Hat Device Edge and Red Hat OpenShift with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Real-time Kernel to ensure that grid control systems can respond to faults reliably within a few milliseconds. Amazing work and partnership.

There was so much to see and do, and this barely scratches the surface of what was announced and shared at the show. If you love open-source innovation, I encourage you to put a Red Hat show on your to-do list.

Arctiq can help you drive AI, Application Modernization, and Automation outcomes with Red Hat and their rich ecosystem of partners. Please say hello and let's talk.
